Pride & Prejudice - Vox Theatre

DOORS 12pm / SHOW 12:30pm-1:45pm

Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice as you have never seen it before, fast, funny, and performed by just two actors.

Piers and Suzannah Hampton take on over twenty characters between them in a joyful new two-hander that fully honours Austen’s story, wit, and unforgettable characters, while leaning into the sheer comedy of watching two people attempt the impossible. Expect lightning-fast character changes, sharp observation, and a playful theatricality that delights Austen devotees and converts the sceptics.

This brand-new adaptation, written and directed by the performers themselves, keeps all the romance, misunderstanding, and social sparring you love, with added contemporary songs and a generous sense of fun. Yes, the proposals are disastrous. Yes, the insults are exquisite. And yes, there may even be a knowing nod to a certain wet-shirt moment.

Both trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Piers and Suzannah’s combined credits include the RSC, the BBC, the West End, and Shakespeare’s Globe. Whether you adore Austen or think she is not for you, this Pride & Prejudice promises to surprise, charm, and make you laugh.

VOX was born out of a simple but powerful idea: when voices are found, stories are told. And when stories are told, change is possible. In a world that can so easily drown us out with noise, speed, and expectation, theatre offers a place to pause, listen, and speak.

Their mission is to create joyful, uplifting theatre that is full of heart and that is powerfully delightful. Where stories are told that resonate with a wide audience. Their productions are deliberately accessible: they invite audiences in, offering laughter, connection, and reflection, while still challenging us all to see the world differently.

VOX is also about joy. They embrace humour, farce, and a touch of the ridiculous. They want their shows to feel alive: the kind of theatre where audiences lean forward, laugh out loud, and maybe even sing along. They love moments of cabaret, clowning, and satire, the wink to the audience that reminds us theatre is a shared ritual, not a distant performance. At the same time, they care deeply about story, about myth, memory, and the narratives that help us make sense of who we are.

Blending physical theatre, music, multimedia, and imaginative storytelling, they create productions that are bold, playful, and full of heart. Their shows invite audiences in with humour, energy, and theatrical mischief, while also exploring deeper questions of identity, belonging, and change.

Ultimately, VOX is about resonance. They create work that resonates with audiences, with communities, and with individuals. In every production, every workshop, every shared laugh, our mission is the same: to uplift, entertain and empower in a vibrant, energetic and accessible way.
