LIV TORC
Liv Torc is a spoken word artist and producer who plunders the vast caverns and dormant volcanoes of the human and planetary condition. A Radio 4 Slam Winner, a former Bard of Exeter, host of the Rainbow Fish Speakeasy and current co-host of the Hip Yak Poetry Shack. Liv is lead artist in Take Art’s long running social prescribing and poetry project and she specialises in facilitating spaces for vulnerable adults. She runs the Hip Yak Poetry School, and the spoken word stage at WOMAD.
CHRIS REDMOND
Chris Redmond is a writer, musician, producer and front man / host of Tongue Fu shows. A regular at music and literature festivals both nationally and internationally, he’s been featured on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 4, XFM, CBBC and Sky Arts. Chris’s book, Let The Pig Out is published by Burning Eye. As a musician Chris has toured extensively with many bands. In theatre he has worked as accompanist for Improbable, songwriter for ice&fire, sound designer for Cecilia Knapp and most recently musician/performer for. He has composed music for EMI/KPM, BBC One, ITV + more. He leads a course called Creative Thinking and Theatre Making at St Mary’s University, London.

The Barrel House Ballroom
The Word Cafe and The Barrel House Ballroom presents The Lockdown Podcasts. Fourteen of the UK’s top poets take the guise of seven podcasts. Hosted by Matt Harvey & Julie Mullen during the lockdown of 2021.
These seven glorious poetry podcasts were created with support using public funding by Arts Council England.
The Word Café is the brainchild of the wondrous Julie Mullen. Since 2010 Julie has hosted sensational poetry and music events at an array of locations including The Cott Inn Dartington, The Landmark Arts Centre Teddington, The Pleasance Theatre London, The Rosemary Branch Theatre Islington, The Pleasance Theatre QueenDome and Bunker One Edinburgh, The Old Sorting Office Barnes & The Tea Box Richmond.
Since 2019, the home for The Word Café has been The Barrel House Ballroom Totnes, with whom this project is a collaboration.
