The Barrel House Ballroom
The first iteration of the Ballroom as a live music venue occurred sometime in the Mid 1990s. No one can quite remember when it moved from being a café/bar that held the occasional event to a dedicated gig space, but during its early years the Ballroom built up its reputation as a grassroots music venue.
Now, over twenty years later, the Barrel House Ballroom is still an independent, 150-capacity music venue, hosting local, national and international bands and artists, as well as comedy nights, Word Cafes, and a range of other live events.
The venue has also regularly hosted bands and DJs for some of Totnes’ amazing music festivals including Sea Change Festival and Party in the Town.
Based in the heart of Totnes, the venue serves as a creative hub for local artists, working in collaboration with a number of community groups, including Jamming Station, The Word Cafe, Black Bird Collective and Chapter 12 Comedy Club.
One of the primary aims of the Barrel House is to provide opportunities to new and emerging talent and to foster an environment that is open and accessible to all, be it performers or audiences alike.

Totnes Brewing Co.
The Totnes Brewing Co. is located on the ground floor of the Barrel House building and set up to support the financial viability of the Barrel House as a music venue.
Successful in its own right as a Brewpub, it brews some delicious craft beers as well as holding a huge stock of some of the best craft ales from the UK and across the world. With 14 keg taps and three cask ales, as well as the very full fridges of bottles, there is always a beer to suit everyone’s tastes. Click here to find out more about our beers.
The Brew Co., as it is locally known, is the ideal place to meet friends before a gig. It has a slightly later licence than the ballroom so is also great for a post-gig drink.
The Totnes Brewing Co. also hosts its own programme of events in the Library Bar, that supports the Barrel House and acts as a staging post for artists to flex their performing muscles.
THe Beer GArden
