We are over the moon to announce this gig with the breathtaking CERYS HAFANA live on Sunday 10th March 2024 (7.30pm) at The Barrel House Ballroom, in the heart of Totnes in association with The Black Bird Collective.

Cerys Hafana will be playing songs from her latest album Edyf (The Guardian Folk Album Of The Year), alongside some brand new material.

A triple harpist/multi-instrumentalist and singer from Machynlleth in mid Wales, Cerys mangle, mutates and transforms traditional music to forge a new, unique modern Welsh sound all of her own.

Cerys has won over audiences from Green Man to the Eisteddfod and from BBC 6 Music Festival to Celtic Connections with her magical, progressive sound.

Her second album Edyf was selected as one of The Guardian’s Top Ten albums of 2022, as well as receiving wide-spread media attention and critical acclaim.

Cerys is up for the Welsh Music Prize this year.

“The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly Cerys Hafana…The triple harpist transported us to a realm of sheerbliss, with her nimble fingers dancing across the strings in a state of soulful expression. Line Of Best Fit review of FOCUS Wales 2023.

‘…she’s an adept shapeshifter, entwining tradition with direct and personal interpretations to create music that’s both progressive, profound and inspiring.’ Alex Gallagher, Folk Radio UK

‘Hafana explores resonances from the past that connect with the modern day in a contemporary, creative way… she uses her harp as a percussive, jagged-toothed tool… sings movingly, her high voice like an indie-pop soprano shorn of its sweetness.’ Jude Rogers, Folk Album of the Month, The Guardian

‘Cerys Hafana’s love for the triple harp is infectious… She easily won hearts and minds with her interpretations of traditional folk songs, and her own work. Cerys charmed us with her stories. Magical.’ FOCUS Wales Highlights 2022, God is in the TV
